The builder
Cade Davidson
Born and raised in Byron Shire, building in it for over twenty-four years. When you engage CMD, this is who you get.
The builder
CMD is Cade Michael Davidson.
Every word in this section is Cade’s own, transcribed from an hour of interview on site and left in his voice rather than tidied into ours.
“I grew up here, I’ve been building for over twenty-four years, and I’ve always believed building a home is a very personal process.
“You’ve got to be approachable, you’ve got to have those conversations, and sometimes you’ve got to have the difficult ones too. A builder sometimes needs to say, ‘You could do that. But I don’t think you should.’
“I’ve been around building and carpentry most of my life, so I still really enjoy the detail of it, piecing everything together, solving problems and finding the best way forward.
“At the end of the day, people are putting a lot of trust in you to get it right. It’s their home, and they’re going to live with the decisions we make together for a long time. I take that pretty seriously. I just want to know that when we finish, we’ve made good decisions, we’ve done the work properly and we’ve built something that really works for them.”
On film
Twelve minutes, if you’d rather watch than read.
Two films, both shot on site at the Nashua build in August 2026.
The client
Ask the person whose house it is.
Jamie Durie has spent a career on building sites: a landscape designer with a Gold Medal from the Chelsea Flower Show, and the Logie-winning host of Backyard Blitz, The Block and House Rules. He knows what a good build looks like better than most people who commission one. He’s building with Cade right now, and he came back to site on the afternoon of the shoot, unasked, to say this on camera.
He’s one of the best I’ve ever worked with. His work is second to none. His attention to detail is extraordinary.
Credentials
The checkable part.
CMD Constructions Pty Ltd is a registered Australian company based at Ocean Shores in Byron Shire, fully licensed and insured, and a member of the Master Builders Association. Cade was born and raised in the shire and has over twenty-four years of hands-on construction experience.
All of that is checkable, and you should check it, along with the licence of every other builder whose name is on your list.
Deliberately not printed here
A licence number, an insurer and a Master Builders membership number. They’re the most useful trust details a builder’s website can carry and this one doesn’t carry them, because we don’t hold them and we’re not printing a number we haven’t been given. Ask Cade for all three.
In their words
Three clients, quoted exactly.
We are so happy in our new home! Cade made the whole process so straightforward and seamless, yet kept us in the loop every step of the way. The attention to detail and standard of work is first class, and Cade and his employees were a pleasure to deal with throughout.
Thank you Cade for the amazing job you have done on our renovation! Nothing was too much trouble for you, and you were always there with great advice and idea’s. When we requested a couple of changes from our initial plans, you seamlessly made it happen.
My husband and I employed CMD Constructions when we decided to convert our double garage into a self-contained living area for my mother. We found Cade to be extremely helpful from our initial meeting, when he helped us with the design and layout, liaison with council, and working within our budget.
All three name Cade personally. None of them are about a company.
