Building Inspiring Spaces

Cade has been building in this shire for over twenty-four years, and takes on a handful of projects at once.

That’s deliberate. The person who prices your job is the person who runs it, and the trades on site are the same ones every time.

    Kingsvale Road, Myocum  ·  2022

A hinterland house turned north and opened along its whole face to a pool, a covered outdoor room and an open-air bathroom.

CMD built the extension — a new living space, a new deck, the laundry, the exterior stain and the landscaping, reworking almost all of the house that was there.

The builder

CMD is Cade Michael Davidson.

I grew up here, I’ve been building for over twenty-four years, and I’ve always believed building a home is a very personal process.

You’ve got to be approachable, you’ve got to have those conversations, and sometimes you’ve got to have the difficult ones too. A builder sometimes needs to say, “You could do that. But I don’t think you should.”

I’ve been around building and carpentry most of my life, so I still really enjoy the detail of it, piecing everything together, solving problems and finding the best way forward.

At the end of the day, people are putting a lot of trust in you to get it right. It’s their home, and they’re going to live with the decisions we make together for a long time. I take that pretty seriously. I just want to know that when we finish, we’ve made good decisions, we’ve done the work properly and we’ve built something that really works for them.

The first conversation costs nothing, and it’s with me.

In his words

Ask the person whose house it is.

Jamie Durie has spent a career on building sites — a landscape designer with a Gold Medal from the Chelsea Flower Show, and the Logie-winning host of Backyard Blitz, The Block and House Rules. He knows what a good build looks like better than most people who commission one. He is building with Cade right now, and he came back to site on the afternoon of the shoot, unasked, to say this on camera.

“He’s one of the best I’ve ever worked with. His work is second to none. His attention to detail is extraordinary.”

Enquire

Tell Cade what you’re planning.

The more specific you are, the more useful his first answer will be.

If you’d rather talk than type, ring 0412 999 694. That’s Cade’s mobile and he takes the call himself.

01 / 03The project

What are you planning?

The suburb the build is in, if that’s not where you live now.

A range is enough, and it’s not a quote.

An honest answer is more use than an optimistic one.

02 / 03Where it’s up to

None of this is required. It’s what tells Cade whether he’s useful to you yet.

Cade would rather know than guess. It changes what’s worth talking about first.
